Is Paris good for kids? Yes, if you keep the day simple. This one-day Paris itinerary with kids skips the long museum queues and mixes the big sights with gardens, a playground, a river cruise and good food.

Start at the Louvre Pyramid and the Tuileries Garden, have lunch on Rue de Rivoli, then take the metro to Trocadéro for the classic Eiffel Tower view. Walk down to the tower, take a one-hour Seine cruise and finish with dinner by the river. The last three stops are next to each other, so tired legs are not a problem at the end of the day.

From the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower

Allow 6-7 hours. One metro ride, no taxis and about 2.5 km on foot. The last three stops are together by the river.
