The 8 markets

Looking for the best Christmas market in Prague? This map shows all 8 Prague Christmas markets for 2026 with confirmed dates, opening hours, exact locations and Google Maps or Waze directions to each one.

When do the Prague Christmas markets start in 2026? The first to open is Náměstí Míru (Peace Square) on 20 November. The main Christmas markets on Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square open on Saturday 28 November 2026, the day the Old Town Square Christmas tree is lit, and run until 6 January 2027, daily 10:00-22:00. Most neighbourhood markets close on 24 December.

Which is the best Christmas market in Prague? Old Town Square is the biggest and most famous, with the giant tree and the main stage. Wenceslas Square, a short walk away, is best for street food. For a more local feel and lower prices, head to Náměstí Míru in Vinohrady or the small riverside market on Kampa by Charles Bridge. All Prague Christmas markets are free to enter.

Dates were checked with the market organisers in October 2026. Christmas Eve and holiday opening hours are usually announced later.

Before you go

Good to know

Bring cash and a card
Most stalls take cards now, but small vendors and toilets often prefer Czech koruna.
Keep your mug
Mulled wine often comes in a souvenir mug with a deposit. Return it or take it home.
Dress for -5°C
Evenings are cold and you'll be standing a lot. Warm boots make all the difference.
Watch the prices
Food sold by weight (like the ham) can add up fast. Ask for the price of a portion first.
