The 8 markets

Looking for the best Christmas market in Budapest? This map shows 8 Budapest Christmas markets for 2026 with dates, opening hours where published, exact locations and Google Maps directions to each one.

When do the Budapest Christmas markets open in 2026? The two big markets both open on Friday 13 November 2026. Advent Bazilika in front of St. Stephen's Basilica runs until 1 January 2027, and Vörösmarty Classic Xmas on Vörösmarty tér runs until New Year's Eve. They are a 10 minute walk apart, so you can see both in one evening.

Which is the best Christmas market in Budapest? Advent Bazilika has the best setting and the light show on the Basilica every afternoon from 17:30. Vörösmarty tér is the classic choice for Hungarian crafts and food. For a cheaper, more local feel, go to Advent Óbudán on Fő tér. For handmade and vintage gifts, try the Gozsdu Christmas Market in the Jewish Quarter, and for the view, Budavári Advent next to Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion.

Dates for Advent Bazilika, Vörösmarty tér, Óbuda, Gozsdu and Hegyvidék are published by the organisers. Budavári Advent and Újbuda are provisional, and Városháza Park has not announced 2026 dates yet. Check before you go.
